Welcome to West Pennine Motorcycle Training!
Motorcycling and the Law
Getting on The Road
At 16 you can obtain a provisional licence and on passing your CBT can ride a 50cc moped on 'L' plates.
At 17, a CBT will normally allow the rider up to 125cc with 'L' plates.
To take a practical test you must pass a motorcycle theory test and hold a valid CBT certificate.
Under 21 year olds must take standard module one and two tests on a 125cc bike and on passing have a full bike licence, but they are restricted in power for a two year period to 33bhp.
21 years and over have the option of Direct Access (DAS), the tests can in this case be taken on a large bike (500cc) and on passing the licence has no power restrictions.
Whichever course you take, prior to your tests, you must successfully complete the DSA 'Theory Test', but don't worry, we can give you plenty of help, advice and learning materials too!
